Process by aaronjohngregory

So totally honored by this...

Sci-Fi Japan ran a cool feature on my comic book cover art for Godzilla: Rage Across Time, allowing me to explain my process of creating it, from concept to finished art. Check it out if you want to get nerdy about illustration or Godzilla!

AAU article by aaronjohngregory

Walked in to class today on the first day of my very last week, ever, as an BFA student in Illustration at AAU, and saw this huge one page feature article in the Academy of Art, University paper. Of course, I did the interwiew a while back, so knew something was going to come out eventually, but a FULL PAGE!? Honored and floored. My teachers we're equally stoked and proud to see it. What a great way to wrap up 5.5 years of non-stop, full time art school.

Here's a digital version of it online - much easier to read. blogs.academyart.edu/newspaper…

Family, friends, and the few fans I may have on here, help a starving artist out. I've been killing myself these last six weeks to pull this off, but it's finally done and ready for your support. Last night, Jackie and I launched our Kickstarter.com campaign for COTTON CRUSTACEAN, our little boutique t-shirt endeavor.  We have the shirts (of course), prints, and original art as incentives, and if you contribute enough, you'll get to pick whatever organism you want me to draw and turn into a shirt. Please, check it out, and think about what people in your life may appreciate some prehistoric panache pulsating across their pectorals this holiday season.

Thanks to all the generous backers we have already! Barely twelve hours in, and we're at %25 of our campaign goal! You guys rule like mammals did during the Cenozoic era!

Click the link or the picture above to help support. Thanks so much!!

Nothing drives me more nuts than when I go to a cool museum, like the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles or the Natural History Museum in New York, and in their gift shop all of the t-shirts relating to their collections are either tacky, horribly designed, gaudy, ill-fitting things, or, are just the same generic images used by every aquarium, zoo, and museum in the country, but with that institution's name printed on them in Papyrus font. Blegh.

Since I love drawing dynamic animals from the golden days of the Cambrian and Cretaceous periods, or from the arthropod infested ecosystems thriving in our backyard creeks, I've decided to take a small gamble here in believing that other people have a love affair with such incredible organisms too.

Thus, Cotton Crustacean is born. You can visit us here at cottoncrustacean.com and on facebook, and order shirts immediately. All the shirts are super soft, premium, form fitting American Apparel brand, made in the USA.

Drawings of a Toxoceras Ammonite as well as Dunkleosteus and Heliocoprian sharks are done (see above), and shirts are coming soon!!

Thanks for your support!!
