MOTHRA vs. KUMONGA colored by aaronjohngregory MOTHRA vs. KUMONGA colored by aaronjohngregory
Mothra vs Kumonga colored (very quickly) and originally turned into a show flier.

I've since removed the show text, and darkened and tweaked the background a bit to simplify the image and pop the beasts!

Kumonthra. I think a giant poster with all the bug kaiju would sell well somewhere.

Against Showa era Mothra it could go 50/50, but Heisei and Millenium Mothra would prove more difficult for Kumonga, and Mothra Leo would utterly destroy Kumonga with little effort.

Awesome! I think it looks like Mothra has the upper hand anyway.

Now this is truly something, the two largest, most used Godzilla insect kaiju duking it out! Really good idea here! As for who would win, I think it could go either way. Now, Mothra normally has the advantage with powered flight and antenna beams BUT, if Kumonga (being a giant spider) can entangle Mothra in just enough sink to bring her down to the ground momentarily, she could inject her immobilizing venom and that would be it! Most of the time, I would say Mothra (even though I'm not that big of a Mothra fan) but again, with a bit of luck and a spider's wits, Kumonga does have a chance! Now, in this position, where Kumonga has gone for a more physical approach, I would say Mothra because if she's dropped, that's one dead spider! Now again, if Kumonga can put enough holes in Mothra's wings or manage to bit her, it could be a 'win'. Now, I put the last win in parentheses because, (this kind of depends on how far up they are but I'm assuming it's pretty damn high since they are kaiju and you can't see the ground) either way (if Kumonga is dropped or she forces Mothra to the ground), the giant spider is going to fall and die. The question is is will she bring Mothra down with her?! All-in-all, nice work on this one!

No problem, it's the least I can do! Really nice work on this one, especially with the idea (well, the hair details and Mothra's wing patters were pretty awesome too!)

My money's on Mothra...
For some reason, the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this was "National Geographic Special".

So, what motivated you to make this into a flier for an event? Pretty original, and definitely eye-catching, but what gave you the idea?

Had to kill multiple birds with one stone. Needed a flyer for my girlfriend's band (Grayceon), needed to color one of my pen and ink drawings for a school assignment, and wanted to practice some Toho beasts! Glad you liked it! I just thought it would be rad if Spiega (Kumonga) and Mothra went at it, since they never have before. Bug and bug. Plus, Spiega could maybe be female, so it nods to the amazing Seattle band on this bill, Lesbian.

Mothra will probably die, but then her egg will hatch and the giant spider will be beaten by a caterpillar.

Mothra had to be shrunk for its first battle with Godzilla since it would have dwarfed him ^^

Oh shit! Debate! Mothra was tiny in GMK, but pretty fucking huge in the old Showa stuff. I think the wings here could be a bit bigger for accuracy, but wouldn't do much for the drawing.
